I took this photo during a cross-country road trip last summer, a trip long overdue because of Covid-19, but ultimately realized last year. I was in my SUV in a pullout along a cliff on Highway U.S. 101 in California overlooking the Pacific Ocean, maybe 300 or 400 miles south of Oregon. I arrived during sunset and was so tired from driving that I ended up sleeping overnight. When I woke around 2 or 3 am and with the sunroof completely open, I noticed how incredibly beautiful the night sky had become. So I grabbed my camera and put it atop the edge of the sunroof. The result? Stars everywhere.
